Medallion Instrumentation Systems, a Patrick Industries company, is looking to add an Electrical Engineer (Hardware) to their team in Spring Lake, MI. The Electrical Engineer (Hardware) will be responsible for the research, design, development and testing of electrical systems and components intended for use in the marine and automotive markets.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Guides Business Unit financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and applying policies, procedures and internal controls
- Assist with the information utilized in filing quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission
- Designs electrical components and products, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing prototypes.
- Reviews customer and Medallion design requirements to assess specific electronic circuitry design needs.
- Adapts conventional electronic circuitry into specific configurations suitable for meeting the performance requirements of the Medallion Product Specification guidelines or needs.
- Generate and maintain all necessary documentation supporting the electronic design of products. This includes and is not limited to bills of material, QS-9001 documentation, schedules, schematics and assembly prints. Manages product changes caused by component obsolescence or temporary lack of availability.
- Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Performs, or directs the execution of, Design Verification and Validation testing of products.
- Performs product and FMEA studies to assure that products will meet Medallion and customer operational performance and service life requirements.
- Analyze test results to facilitate corrective action measures when necessary.
- Performs product worst cased design analysis to assess the theoretical product capability to perform under various conditions.
- Uses CAD engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Provides technical support for other departments as required.
- Maintains a safe, clean and attractive work environment in the Engineering Office and Laboratory areas.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited engineering college or university
- 3+ years’ experience in electrical engineering/hardware design, experience with sensors and control circuits is desired.
- Must have prior experience with electrical design software (such as Altium Designer, or CAD, etc.).
- Prior experience using productivity software (Adobe Reader, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and database software (such as Microsoft Access) effectively.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Must have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Strong reasoning skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
