Marine Concepts, a division of Patrick Industries, is hiring a Staff Accountant to join their team in Sarasota, FL. This role owns accurate recording of transactions, maintains the integrity of the balance sheet, and supports production-related accounting processes. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, partners with operations, and leverages QuickBooks Enterprise to drive efficiency and visibility.

Responsibilities& Duties:

• Prepare and post weekly journal entries, ensuring proper classification of costs (raw materials, labor, overhead).
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts each month, investigating variances in inventory, prepaid expenses, and accruals.
• Assist with quarterly physical inventory counts and validate valuation.
• Process orders/jobs in QuickBooks Enterprise: set up new sales orders, update customer information, and maintain pricing accuracy.
• Apply cash receipts: match payments to open invoices, investigate payment discrepancies, and clear unapplied cash.
• Prepare and distribute weekly payroll reports to management and compile month-end payroll reports for corporate review.
• Collaborate with procurement as it relates to payable invoices as needed.
• Collaborate with procurement and production teams to track work-in-process and confirm cost flows.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years in a manufacturing environment, handling full cycle accounting and inventory controls strongly preferred.
• Prior exposure to quarterly physical counts and cycle count programs.
• Demonstrated success improving processes in QuickBooks Enterprise (e.g., automating journal entries, customizing reports)
• Microsoft Excel: pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and macros for reconciliations and inventory schedules.

• Analytical mindset: digs into cost drivers and inventory fluctuations to uncover root causes.
• Process-oriented: continuously seeks to streamline reconciliations and close procedures.
• Proven track record reconciling complex balance sheet accounts, including intercompany, prepaid, and deferred items.
• Exceptional attention to detail in journal entry preparation and suspense account resolution.
• Strong organizational skills to manage cyclical tasks (inventory, month-end close) and ad hoc analyses.
• Effective communicator comfortable liaising with plant managers, purchasing, and sales to reconcile production variances.
