The Group Quality Manager will oversee and drive quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts across multiple fiberglass and marine furniture manufacturing facilities.  This role involves ensuring compliance with quality standards, enhancing operational efficiency, and fostering a culture of quality throughout the organization.  The position requires extensive travel to all facilities to provide hands-on leadership, training, and support to local teams.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems in compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Ensure all facilities meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of manufacturing processes, materials, and finished products to identify and address quality issues.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning for quality-related issues.
  • Monitor and analyze quality metrics, providing recommendations for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to quality/inspection teams at individual facilities, fostering professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Conduct training programs to promote quality awareness and best practices among staff.
  • Act as a liaison between facility-level quality teams/leaders and group leadership to ensure alignment of goals and objectives.
  • Regularly visit all fiberglass manufacturing facilities, including remote and outlying locations, to provide hands-on oversight and support.
  • Build strong relationships with facility managers and production teams to ensure collaboration and adherence to quality standards.
  • Communicate quality performance, challenges, and improvements to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and local leadership teams to address quality-related concerns.

 

 

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive Quality related experience
  • Manufacturing Industry experience: fiberglass preferred
  • Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing
  • Proven experience in project planning/management tools and techniques, lean and visual tools and methodologies driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Successful demonstration of applying continuous process improvement mindset that drives improved efficiencies and cost reduction while placing a premium on safety and quality
  • Experience analyzing and resolving complex technical problems relating to operational considerations
  • Possess results-driven mentality with excellent self-management and organizational skills
  • High level of technical, critical thinking, problem solving and analytical reasoning skills
  • Must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of external professionals and in-house staff
  • Ability to manage multiple, unrelated tasks in an organized manner with attention to detail and thoroughness while balancing changing priorities and challenges
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Work, Excel, Outlook) and product and process databases (knowledge of manufacturing ERP system is a plus)
