Job Title: Plant Manager

 

Reports to: Operations Director

                             

Percent of Time: On Site: 100%

 

Job Summary: 

The Plant Manager is responsible for overall leadership, direction, and performance of the fiberglass manufacturing facility.  This role oversees production, safety, quality, maintenance, and workforce management to ensure operational excellence, profitability, and compliance with company standards and regulations.  The Plant Manager will foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability across all departments.  

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Reviews production schedule and adjusts for efficiency and meeting customer due dates.
  • Monitors daily productivity and ensures sufficient labor and materials to meet schedule.  Involved in proactive and reactive resource allocation and barrier removal to best meet customer needs.
  • Maintains communication and coaching to employees daily to ensure they have the information to do their jobs and that they understand and adhere to the goals and direction of the company. 
  • Trains direct reports on operating procedures, quality standards, environmental, health and safety procedures and company policies.  Ensures compliance and sustainment of training to ensure a smooth operation.
  • Provides performance and daily corrective feedback to employees as needed.  Writes direct reports performance reviews.   Recommends raises, next level of discipline, and terminations to the General Manager.
  • Collaborate with technical departments to understand customer requirements and makes suggestions for improvement.  Works with others to find continuous improvement opportunities and find ways to implement improvements; effective use of quality improvement tools.
  • Leads team reporting and assessment of production information including manufacturing data, customer feedback, and employee suggestions for continuous improvement of processes and products. 
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to supervisors, group leaders, and staff.
  • Build a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Minimum 2+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong desire to train and coach others to improve and grow.
  • Ability to collaborate with all plant personnel from production floor to senior leadership.
  • Strong accountability and follow-through skills
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and changing priorities.
  • Computer skills to include but not limited to Microsoft Office programs to keep track of administrative tasks including, report writing, production schedules, analysis of work orders, evaluations of product estimates and outputs.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to speak with groups of employees and address employees one-on-one. 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to regularly walk the production floor and inspect equipment, products, and processes.
  • Ability to occasionally lift materials up to 50lbs.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial environment with exposure to fiberglass, materials, dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
