We are currently hiring for a Group Composite Engineer to support our diverse fiberglass manuafacturing facilities. The Group Composite Engineer position will require someone with a strong background in engineering and project management to lead process and equipment initiatives across our fiberglass group of plants. This role bridges technical expertise and hands-on project leadership, supporting the development, optimization, and scaling of composite manufacturing processes, primarily fiberglass-based systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leader cross-functional projects involving new equipment installation, process improvements, and technology upgrades across multiple fiberglass production facilities.
- Serve as a technical liaison between engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure successful project execution from concept through commissioning.
- Analyze existing composite manufacturing processes (e.g., resin infusion, spray-up, hand lay-up) to identify areas for improvement in quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Specify, source, and manage the installation of production equipment, tools, and automation systems.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs), process flows, and best practices.
- Collaborate with R&D and product development teams to transition new composite products into full-scale production.
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, and resource needs, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Support compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations across all facilities.
- Train plan personnel on new processes and equipment operations as needed
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
- Strong understanding of composite materials, especially fiberglass-reinforced systems and associated production techniques.
- Proven experience managing capital projects and coordinating with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communications, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel to multiple plant locations as needed (25-50%)
- Strong tact and diplomacy; ability to work effectively with staff on all levels.
- A high level of personal integrity (self-esteem, confidence, honesty, and respect) are necessary qualities.
- Strong written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
