Coyote MFG Co., a division of Patrick Industries, is seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized CAD Technician to support the engineering and design of our premium boat trailers. This role is vital in transforming ideas and specifications into detailed technical drawings that support efficient manufacturing and consistent product quality. The ideal candidate is motivated, ambitious, and brings a strong work ethic to both design work and hands-on fabrication support.

 

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD drawings for boat trailer components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production teams to ensure drawings reflect real-world manufacturability and design intent.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Maintain organized drawing files and documentation according to company standards.
  • Support BOM (Bill of Materials) updates and ensure alignment between drawings and ERP system.
  • Assist in design reviews and contribute constructive feedback to improve design and production processes.
  • Communicate effectively across departments including engineering, purchasing, production, and sales.
  • Help identify opportunities for product improvement or cost savings through design efficiency.
  • Support hands-on fabrication of prototypes or production trailers based on your designs.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3+ years of CAD experience preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools; previous experience using Fusion 360 and/or SolidWorks for mechanical design and drafting strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset.
  • Must be motivated, ambitious, and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on production environment when needed.
  • Previous experience in trailer or vehicle design is a plus but not required.
  • Self-motivated with a proven track record showing the ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines and work independently with limited oversight
