Gravure Ink, a division of Patrick Industries, is hiring a Quality Engineer to support their manufacturing operations in La Porte, IN and Bensenville, IL. In this role you will strengthen our manufacturing teams through the creation and implementation of quality standards while collaborating with our cross functional teams to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
This role requires regular travel between Gravure’s two operational sites:
- One week per cycle will be spent at the Bensenville, IL location
- The alternate week will be spent at the LaPorte, IN location
- This alternating schedule ensures active, hands-on leadership and consistent EHS engagement at both sites.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Identify, develop and help implement continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing operations.
- Works closely with the sales, engineering, prototype and production teams in generating, monitoring and reporting on results of cost estimates and provide recommendations for adjustments, as appropriate.
- Work with management to establish quality & production/performance standards, goals, measures and metrics and effectively implement, educate and provide performance results against targets.
- Lead Quality Meetings that include Trending, Statistical Analysis, Corrective Action, Planning & Status, and communication of new initiatives.
- Work closely with management to establish quality inspection processes and procedures that ensures quality standards are met at various stages throughout operation.
- Point person for controlling and maintaining quality related documentation, communications and maintaining any applicable schedules and training.
- Conduct quality audits throughout the operation according to established schedules with proper documentation of all assessments and findings.
- Record, investigate and report all RMA/product quality issues. Maintain warranty and return information involving the analysis of returned product.
- Communicate with management and any relevant outside vendor(s) regarding quality initiatives, required training and developed corrective actions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- BS Degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline. Minimum of 5 years extensive related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience in identifying manufacturing process opportunities with successful corrective action/issue resolution.
- Education or experience in project planning/management tools and techniques, lean and visual tools and methodologies driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Successful demonstration of applying continuous process improvement mindset that drives improved efficiencies and cost reduction while placing a premium on safety and quality.
- Experience analyzing and resolving complex technical problems relating to operational considerations.
- Possess results-driven mentality with excellent self-management and organizational skills.
- High level of technical, critical thinking, problem solving and analytical reasoning skills.
- Must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of external professionals and in-house staff.
- Ability to manage multiple, unrelated tasks in an organized manner with attention to detail and thoroughness while balancing changing priorities and challenges.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and product and process databases (knowledge of E2 Manufacturing ERP system is a plus).
