The Purchasing Manager at Patrick Industries is responsible for evaluating material vendors across multiple categories in an effort to continuously improve quality, efficiency and cost.

 

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for raw materials.
  • Analyze market trends and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material costs.
  • Negotiate purchasing contracts, discount and rebate structures.
  • Participate and drive material forecast processes with sales and execute purchasing strategies to meet customer forecast needs.
  • Ensure materials are purchased at the most competitive price and delivered on time to meet production demands.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish strong relationships with key suppliers who are aligned to the company's needs.
  • Prepare reports regarding markets conditions, market forecast, and make purchasing recommendations.
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
  • Assist in the management of obsolescence.
  • Assist with inventory management as needed

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience working in Purchasing
  • Proven capabilities to negotiate successfully
  • Must have previous experience in manufacturing
  • Previous experience using ERP/MRP systems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Strong accountability and follow-through skills
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide array of plant personnel ranging from hourly employees to senior management
  • The ability to work independently in a busy environment with changing daily priorities
  • Excellent computer skills, with strong working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel
  • A high level of personal integrity (self-esteem, confidence, honesty, and respect) are necessary qualities
  • Self-motivated to work independently in a busy environment with changing priorities and the ability to adapt
  • Facilitation and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization
