Patrick Industries Corporate Office is currently hiring a Plant Accountant to support our Controller Group. The Plant Accountants in our Controller Group are expected to analyze, interpret, and communicate cost and expense spending variances to management while also supporting site specific accounting functions such as journal entries, reconciliations and month end close reporting

 

Essential job functions will include:  

  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies, procedures and internal controls 
  • Monitor and confirms financial condition by conducting audits 
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data 
  • Prepare monthly account analysis, ledger entries, and balance sheet reconciliations 
  • Calculate variances from the sub ledger to ledger and work with appropriate individuals to rectify 
  • Monthly financial reporting
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures 
  • Preparing and delivering site specific analysis as it relates to variances, productivity, metric tracking (KPIs) and standard setting.  Variance analysis will include but not be limited to purchase price variance, inventory, actual to plan/forecast for operating expenses, accruals to actual, etc. 
  • Completing timely reviews of the system suggested changes to cost standards, including components of indirect cost.  Recognizing the importance of accurate costs in valuing inventory, calculating gross margin at standard, developing quotations, and identifying targets for improvement opportunities.
  • Analyzing production costs, labor efficiency, and material usages to identify cost-saving opportunities. Evaluating the financial impact of process improvements and capital projects. 
  • Reporting and analysis along with maintaining a robust controls and compliance environment in coordination with Internal Audit, Corporate Accounting and Treasury. 
  • Monitoring and confirming financial reporting accuracy by preparing account reconciliations each period that include meaningful information that is easily interpreted by internal and external auditors along with supporting audits (i.e. – observing physical inventories). 
  • Providing support for revenue recognition, accruals, expense recognition, and capital spending in progress.  Communicating with those involved in processing transactions to continually improve accuracy and appropriateness.   
  • Supporting the timely reporting of monthly financial and operational performance and the preparation of period plans and forecasts. 

 

 

 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field  
  • 3+ years’ experience in an Accounting related role preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint are required. ERP system experience is preferred 
  • Experience to include general understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act is desired 
  • Costing experience is highly desired as well as experience with Continuous Improvement Tools (i.e. – value stream mapping), Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in terms of being clear, concise, and professional with the ability to work effectively with a wide array of Team Members  
  • Ability to quickly adapt communications in a variety of settings to meet the unique needs of multiple audiences 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines and work independently  
  • Strong accountability and follow-through skills 
  • Ability and desire to train and coach others to improve performance 
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking
