This role owns the technology governance and standards model, including architectural approvals, modernization principles, and lifecycle management across infrastructure, applications, platforms, and integration layers. The position is also accountable for establishing and maintaining a trusted Configuration Management Database (CMDB) as the system of record for enterprise technology assets and relationships.

Operating within a manufacturing‑centric environment, this role requires strong collaboration with IT delivery teams, ERP leadership, operations, and finance to ensure technology decisions are pragmatic, cost‑effective, and aligned with real‑world operational needs.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Translate business and operational needs into clear architectural patterns and reference architecture across infrastructure, applications, data, and integration.

Technology Governance & Decision Frameworks

  • Create, own, and operate a technology governance and approval model covering:
    • Architecture reviews and design authority
    • Technology selection and lifecycle decisions
    • Exceptions, technical debt, and modernization prioritization
  • Establish clear standards and guardrails that enable speed while preventing fragmentation and redundancy.
  • Partner with delivery and ERP leadership to ensure governance accelerates outcomes rather than becoming a bottleneck.

    • Legacy rationalization and technical debt reduction
    • Cloud, platform, and infrastructure modernization standards
    • Alignment with DevOps and modern operating models
  • Define and maintain technology standards, patterns, and roadmaps to guide consistent implementation across teams.
  • Ensure modernization decisions are economically justified and operationally sound.

CrossPillar Architecture Leadership

  • Operate horizontally across technology pillars, including:
    • Infrastructure and cloud platforms
    • Enterprise applications (including ERP ecosystems)
    • Integration and data platforms
    • End‑user and operational technologies
  • Ensure architectural coherence across domains, avoiding siloed decision‑making.

CMDB Strategy & Ownership

  • Define and own the CMDB strategy, taxonomy, and governance model, ensuring it is accurate, trusted, and actively used.
  • Establish standards for CI definition, relationships, ownership, and lifecycle management.
  • Partner with infrastructure, application, and service teams to ensure continuous CMDB data quality and relevance.
  • Enable CMDB usage to support impact analysis, change management, asset management, and resilience planning.

Business & Industry Alignment

  • Apply architectural thinking within the context of manufacturing and OEM component supply chains, including:
    • Production environments and plant operations
    • Supply chain variability and seasonality
    • Cost sensitivity and operational efficiency
  • Act as a trusted advisor to IT and business leaders, translating architectural decisions into business impact.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 12+ years of experience in IT or Enterprise Architecture, with accountability for standards and cross‑domain design.
  • Proven experience establishing technology governance models and architectural decision frameworks.
  • Hands‑on experience across infrastructure, applications, cloud, and integration architectures.
  • Demonstrated ownership of CMDB design, governance, or large‑scale configuration management practices.
  • Strong ability to balance strategic architecture with practical delivery constraints.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial environments strongly preferred.
  • Background in manufacturing, industrial, or outdoor recreation supply chains.
  • Experience modernizing ERP‑adjacent ecosystems (e.g., D365 or similar platforms).
  • Familiarity with DevOps‑aligned operating models and cloud‑first architectures.
  • Experience rationalizing legacy platforms and defining future‑state roadmaps.
  • A high level of personal integrity (self-esteem, confidence, honesty, and respect) are necessary qualities
  • Self-motivated to work independently in a busy environment with changing priorities and the ability to adapt quickly
  • Solid project management skills
  • Align with Patrick Industries “BETTER Together” mentality by pursuing Balance, Excellence, Trust, Teamwork, Empowerment, and Respect within the organization
