We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Director of Product Compliance to lead the company’s global product compliance initiatives. This role is responsible for developing and executing creative strategies across the organization to ensure product compliance with all applicable domestic and international standards. Working in tandem with business unit leadership, the Director will support the execution of product compliance activities—such as conformity assessments, documentation, certification, regulatory submissions and audits.  The Director will be responsible for managing third-party partners that provide regulatory monitoring, data collection, and advisory services.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive product compliance strategy aligned with corporate goals, business unit objectives and industry standards.
  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate new and emerging federal, state, and international regulations affecting product design, labeling, materials, and performance.
  • Lead enterprise-wide compliance efforts with respect to TSCA, RoHS, REACH, SCIP, PFAS, Prop 65, and other applicable environmental and chemical regulations.
  • Develop and maintain compliance dashboards and scorecards to measure business unit performance using both quantitative and qualitative indicators.
  • Establish a risk matrix to assess and prioritize compliance risk across products, geographies, and suppliers.
  • Leverage data analytics to identify trends, forecast regulatory impacts, and communicate program performance.
  • Support the development of product certification and documentation processes, ensuring all required declarations, test reports, and technical files are complete and audit-ready.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to integrate compliance metrics into sourcing and vendor performance management.
  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, and R&D teams to appropriately integrate compliance requirements into the product development lifecycle.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Sustainability, and Legal on compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary investigations and management of non-compliance incidents, product recalls, or customer complaints.
  • Collaborate on alignment of Responsible Sourcing programs, including Conflict Minerals, Human Rights, and ESG-related disclosure requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen compliance systems, documentation controls, and team capability.
  • Foster a culture of proactive compliance through engagement, coaching, and knowledge sharing.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Compliance, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs and product compliance within the manufacturing sector.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to the manufacturing sector.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing compliance strategies and processes.
  • Demonstrated performance in achieving objectives.
  • Possess an understanding of public affairs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence others within the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Certification in regulatory affairs or compliance is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A high level of personal integrity (self-esteem, confidence, honesty, and respect) are necessary qualities.
